I promised I searched but I have not found anythng that say swhich plug wires to get for teh HEI upgrade on the 304.

I suspect a GM will do the trick, but I just want to ask before heading to the parts store.

    Thx,

    8mm

AutoZone has them. Tell them you have the :AMC: 304 and that you did the HEI Upgrade and want the High Performance Wires (read $$$). 8mm is what you get. Most of those guys are very knowledgeable and will know exactly what you are talking about! I got lucky and found mine on eBay for $20.

    Good luck!

Let me know how you like the HEI setup. I've been on the fencepost about changing my 304 over... Just cannot justify the $$$ when my rig already runs like a top.

PO installed a DUI (high dollar hei) on the 258. The thing is flawless, worth every penny he paid. Easy starts, never misses, one less thing to worry about.

That being said, if your jeep runs good, and you know how to deal with it when it decides not to, keep what you have. I like it because it eliminates that worthless ignition module.

I just bought a set at my FLAPS and I got the ones for a SB Ford with 45 degree spark plug connections. Don't get the ones for the chevy engine cause their distributor is in the back.

You will not find a better HEI or wires. I have both on my 225 and am quite happy w/ the performance, as said above, flawless. I don't even need a choke anymore. Check them out. Rather than hoping for a good fit these are made specifically for your engine.:v6:

If you didn’t want to spend the $100 for the wires above AutoZone has an 8mm spiral wire kit for $50 that you can cut to fit. Everything is included in the kit to do the job.

I went to Autozone and picked up a set of Chevy wires for what I tink turned out to be a late 70's. memory fails me now. Seems to work fine.

The HEI upgrade is very simple and effective on the 304. Thanks for the help everybody.

My HEI does great on my 304. I bought the Distributor and wires as a set off Ebay. If you're still looking to buy an HEI I can send you the info.
