I just ordered a replacement clutch disc for my 1969 CJ5 V6 225 from Kaiser Willys. I new disc is not the same as old. The old one has 6 springs the new one has 5 springs. They both measure the same 10 3/8". The new part is a replacement from Crown Auto part number on the box is 994841. They are also different sizes the new one measures 7/8" thick where the old one measures 1 1/4" thick. Something does not seem right. The name on the old one that came out says " BORG & BECK FLYWHEEL SIDE MADE IN THE U.S.A. PAT 2,227,558 2,448,879" does anyone have any ideas? BTW the presure plate was a diagram type and the replacement presure plate is an exact match. I don't want to put this in and not have it work correctly. the new clutch on the right side in photos. Any help would be great.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

Number of springs shouldn't matter. They look like they are bigger (thicker longer). so long as the front (motor side) of plate doesn't hit when plate is against flywheel and the hub sticks out the same distance an the back of the clutch plate, it should be ok. I may be all wrong here, but just did one in my kids car and they were not the same. But what I mentioned above was. it works fine.

Just as a side note, the clutch for the v6 powered Jeeps is not a jeep part but a GM part and is available from any NAPA. It is basically a GM light truck clutch. So ordering from a Jeep place is not necessary and probably cost more for a inferior part In my opinion.;)

Smack 'er in. Clutches have changed a lot and that is fine.

I think Crown makes (contracts) pretty decent stuff - I think they QC well and have a good history.

Thanks, Its all in, the hardest part was getting the bushing out. Now I just found out that the transfer case and tranny are junk. Anyone got one?

How junky is "junk"? Not worth a rebuild? The Dana 18 transfer cases usually recondition very well, so long as there is not serious gear damage or rust that has broken through the case hardening.

The T14 is probably not going to impress you speechless, but they can be rebuilt. I opted for an SM420 for my '69. It has been everything I had hoped.
