Thanks to everyone for helping out!

I was giving the Jeep a once over and found the 2 driver's side engine bolts missing! The ones used to secure the engine mounts to the engine block. I only had some 7/16-14 bolts to test, and they didn’t fit, but the hole diameter looked right. I’m assuming that means the bolts are supposed to be 7/16-20 UNF. Can anyone verify this for me AND let me know what length I need?

i have since replaced those bolts on mine, but i used what looks like a 7/16 to me, coarse thread. mine are 1 inch long, and i have a lock washer on it. 1 1/4 are to long and will bottom out. hope that helps:beer:

I tried using a 7/16-14 course thread to no avail, that's what made me think it was the fine thread. Can anyone verify?

Why not take one of the bolts out of the other side for an example?

Because I just moved to a new place, don't have a garage available yet, don't have an engine lift setup, don't have an area to use a floor jack, and I live next to a swamp surrounded by mosquitos.... am I being unreasonable or super lazy? Figured this is something people in various stages of their rebuild might be able to find out/know a hell of a lot easier than I could.

on a 231 v-6 they are course thread. 1 inch total length and a 5/8 inch wrench fits it.
