I looked before I posted and I didn't find anything about this. Does anyone know where to get a replacement gas pedal for a 5? Mine is the really long one that uses the 2 ball sockets that hinge on a rubber pad formed to the pedal backing

What you describe is more like the Wagoneer pedal. It has the round Jeep logo in the center of it. I don't know of any aftermarket source today, but there are plenty of junk Wagoneers around. You'll need one from before the suspended pedal was introduced, say, pre 1971 or so.

No, I don't think so. The pivot on the later (?) pedal is molded into the rubber of the pedal, and the pedal snaps on to two ball studs mounted in the floor. This is the same pedal that the Wagoneer used, prior to the suspended pedal. It may also have been used in the CJ ... my memory of this is foggy. That may be what you have in your '71.

It is not, however, the same as the pedal in the picture.

I have the one with the jeep logo in the middle like Jpflat2a posted. The other one is like what goes on the MB's too. Mine is a 70 model. I never had a reason, but I am thinking about going to a Jeepster forum and asking

Hey, thanks Tim. I sent him a message. Yea, it doesn't look in too good of shape, but maybe the back rubber ball sockets are good.
