Next project is tackling the rust repair on Rusty. The article in this months JP Mag. has me thinking about the paint job and am considering the Summit urethane paint they used in the article. I'm thinking about getting a better paint gun. Does anyone have experience with the Eastwood Concourse line ?

This comes with 2 tips but I was planing to use my old Craftsman for the primer coats, I used it on a previous project and got a pretty decent finish with Dupont Imron.

Can't comment on the guns, but use a good respirator!!! I messed up my lungs 30 years ago spraying Imron without a mask, and haven't been the same since. Had to dig out the oxygen tank a couple nights ago 'cause I couldn't breathe.

Harbor freight runs coupons occasionally for a 20oz gravity gun for $10.00. You really ought to try one of those just for grins and see if you like it. I've painted 2 Jeeps with them so far.

I used a Harbor freight siphon feed to apply the Rustolem Hunter green on my 47, not bad but had some spattering.

For reduced urethanes, I've had VERY good luck with this HF unit:

Some of their other guns, not so much. Only complaint I have about the siphon feed is that it leaves a bit of material in the cup. It's for shooting the whole vehicle at once, not just a panel or two. I've had several of their siphon guns, this one is definitely different construction than the others, not just "same crappy tool, different box" like many of their products are. An HF gem, for sure.

For gravity feed, this is the only one I've found that isn't complete junk:

Kinda spendy by HF standards, I know, but it is a decent gun.

These recommendations are for reduced automotive finishes.

Thanks I try the Harbor freight Gravity feed gun. 10-4 on the respirator, I used a particle mask on the Dupont Imron and suffered no ill effects but I understand the Urethane is really nasty stuff.

You got that right. I thought I was gonna die at the time, and my lungs have never been the same since. Never been accused of being too bright.
