I have a 1960 CJ5 with Dana 25 in front. Can I put the manual lockout hubs on it, from a 1974 Dana 30? If yes, are any modifications necessary? As always, thank you in advance. Dave

Probably not from '74. That should have 30 spline axles, while the 60 should have 10 splines. Not to worry though you should have plenty of options. There is even a thread in the EarlyCJ5 forum with a set of NOS that Davea is considering selling.

Otherwise, Warn ($120 or so), Milemarker ($110 or so) and Superwinch ($85) all make new hubs that would work. Herm (www.hermtheoverdriveguy.com) carries new, used and rebuilt hubs, he can be reached at 360.256.3843. And of course there is eBay.

Your looking for Dana 25/27 hubs with 6 bolts that fit 10 spline axles.

Thanks, Joel. It sounds like, with the proper hubs, it is just a bolt on affair, no changing of axles or other pieces. Thanks, Dave.

might have to remove the threaded end (if so equipped). other than that, I know of no issues.

(shudder) Nightmares of the time spent as a kid with a hack saw cutting the threaded ends off of CJ2 and 3 axles… My hand still hurts.

Aren't those old ones the only ones with the threaded end axles?

I have only seen threaded axles on 2 and 3A's - never on 3B's and newer.
