My oil pressure falls to 0-5 lbs at idle, ~10-15lbs at 1K and 25 lbs at 1.5K. On the road at speed it'll still run to 50-75 lbs. I changed oil and filter and blew out the pressure gauge line to be sure and still the same basic set of numbers (won't go all the way to zero now, but it's close).

Everything still sounds normal in the engine. No thumping rods or chattering lifters or rockers. I can see a little oil on the rockers, not much but a little.

Do you all think that is a fair assessment? If so, can you do the mains and seals on a Dauntless still in the jeep?

I have inspected my rods and mains on mine, they were fine, but I could have replaced them very easily if it had needed to be done.

Your problem is more likely in the oil pump and housing, TA performance has quite a few tech tips and products to deal with oiling issues in there printed catalog. I have been fighting oiling issues and those folks have been a big help.

  4. i agree, if the engine sounds alright, you may have caught it early enough. sounds like a pump problem.

iirc, i changed my pump spring without taking hardly anything apart. high psi spring might cost you almost nothing to try and give you some troubleshooting peace of mind at the very least.

Thanks for pointing that out Clint. I apparently blacked that out as a cause, but a broken or weak spring could explain the normal road pressures while falling off to ~ zero at idle. It also occurred overnight. When I parked it it was fine. The next day when I pulled into the parking lot at work was the first time I noticed the lack of pressure. I always check it and water temp several times during a drive. I will check that out first.:v6:
