I was watching Extreme 4X4 and they were painting box liner from a spray can. Have any of you seen this? How do you think it would work on my new gas tank? Or is it better to just leave it bare metal?

    Thanks,
    Maverick

New tanks that appear unpainted, are usually galvanized. Without paint, they should hold up well. I suppose you could top coat it with something, but you'd have to do a little research on prepping galvanized for paint.

If the tank comes not galvanized but with black paint, the paint is usually pretty crappy. If that's the case I'd definitely scuff it and spray it with some quality aerosol, Rustoleum or the like.
