brake pedal clearance

    sammy Coca-Cola?

Not really the pedal per se, more less the pivot arm. Seems as though when the V8 went in, it was either have my drive shaft bind up in the tranny and the oil pan, and spend hours grinding the tranny and gently finessing the oil pan to fit, or bend the brake arm. It will be somewhat tight between the pedals for the steering column. My other choice is to ditch the pivoting assembly all together and spend more money and go with swinging pedals-less clearance issues, plus a hydro clutch instead of bell crank. What do you guys think?
    Thanks

I would go with the swinging pedals.

Yep, ditch the stock arrangement. It will also give you a lot more options when the power brakes come and something to keep in mind when designing the clutch master. Personal preference, but I like to keep the brake pedal close to the skinny so it is relatively easy to get the right foot on both at the same time. Just not so close that you get on both unintentionally.

AA has a small MC setup that I have on my rig now. You can also go with a Willwood setup and customize it to what you need. They have lots of options and you are only limited by firewall space to mount the MC's on it.

What about for the pedals themselves?

Right now I have Herm's dual MC kit... But the AA's with the hydraulic clutch/brake master all in one looks nice. Does it affect anyones braking performance? I'm only running 10" brakes.

It's what I am running right now on the '51 with 11" in back and Disc up front.

Going to 'fit' a Willwood setup in the '49 under construction. I have not put one in a flattie. Based on measurements and how we fit the last one in the Commando, I think its doable.

What about safety going back to a single res master cylinder?

And on using it with discs:
    From Advances site??

Safety is what it is... I have routed my lines with care, and have never lost a system. That being said, it is great for what I use it for, but would seriously look into the Willwood for a DD setup.

I know thier claim on Disc's - all I know is it's never been a problem with mine on the D30 - stock setup.

It's not going to be a DD but it will be street driven.
What sort of pedal cluster would one run with the AA kit?

It has it's own setup that is part of the kit.

Sammy, if you use a dual master like that (I did with my drums), you will have to completely replace just about everything if you want a power booster-and power discs are really nice.

This master was for the Dodge shelby version 024 but I think the Wilwood one is the same. Light, compact, and dual system specifically for 4 wheel discs.

Honestly I'm happy with the drums... Always seemed to stop me in time. Actually will lock them up at 45 mph.

A picture would help, but why not try bending the pedal first? The hanging pedals is a complete new project in itself and adds a lot of time to redesigning and install as well as needing to pitch your duel res. setup that works well now. The Brake pedals for the V6 Jeeps and the early flattys are slightly diff. there is a diff. bend or two in them to clear the bell housing. And it is realy close but works. I found this out while doing my :v6: swap. Find one of those or bend yours. I'd go this route first, you can always rip everything out and start with a hanging pedal setup if you can't make it work but it should be doable.
