2wd low?

    i fiddled with it until i got it in.
    i figure.
    the designer made a great product.
    far be it from me to defeat something he put there on purpose.

    I expect the lock-out is more about breakage than function. In 2WD low on pavement, I would guess you can snap the rear axles without too much effort. Burnouts would not be difficult.

    That's what my Dad always told me. I've known people to break them too, but they were doing just that (trying to smoke the tires).

    The pin fell out when I removed the front bearing retainer from the case. I knew that something fell but didn't know what until the instructions told me to remove it and it wasn't there.

    I took many, many pictures when rebuilding my D-18. If you're interested, I will include a link here. Be forewarned: if you have dial-up, DO NOT open it unless you have a week or two to wait - very picture intensive :)
