I am trying to position my tilt column, the question is how far back from the dash? And how high? Now it seams to low and too far back. The jeep when purchased had no steering column, so I have no reference. Any one willing to post some measurements would be helpful.

:iagree: What feels right for one person may be uncomfortable for another.

Ok how high is the seat supposed to be? Yea I bought it with no seats (or brackets) and no column. My plan was to make the seat work with the column. If I put the seat to low, visibility will be stunted, too high and my head will hit the roof. Need to get one in a reasonable spot to get the "feel" for the other.

Put your seat in where it's comfortable for you then adjust the column accordingly. Honestly, you're putting the cart before the horse. You don't say if you're using an underseat tank which will mean the seat must sit higher or not where you can put the seat lower. Your height and build plays a big part here. Someone who's 5'9" has totally different needs than someone 6'2". Using stock or aftermarket seats? Huge differences here. Every Jeep and every driver makes for a little different set up for comfort.

Knowing where the seat was originally will give me a good place to start, I can adjust from there. Where the top of the seat bottom would end up, would be helpful. The seats are out of an s-10, and the fuel tank has been relocated. At 5' 6" I am not tall.

Set your S-10 seat in that thing temporarily and climb in and see how you like the view out thru the W/shield. That will establish your seat height. Steering column position will depend on wheel size in relation to your lap/belly. That should do it.

Maybe this will help. This is a GM column with S-10 seats. My column is in the same location as the stock column, except I moved the base over one inch. That way I could clear the exhaust manifold.
The base bracket of the column sits on the floor and with out the floor plates, it's hard to tell where on the floor it goes.
