I want to put a heat shield on the underside of the CJ. The flowmasters are located under the pass and driver floors. Lots of heat that is transferred to the floors and gas tank Has anyone used anything like this product (fastened to the undercarriage)?

    http://www.heatshieldproducts.com/heat_shield.php

I searched and found other options like fastening metal to the undercarriage and leaving an air gap.
    Thanks,
    Paul

Just use a piece of sheet steel with a significant air gap (say, 1/2") between the shield and the body. That's what the factory uses. Cheap and effective.

    Maddogg,
I was looking at the Thermotec 16850 and the header wrap 16800. My only concern was the header wrap retaining moisture and causing premature rusting (if it is really an issue). The 16850 is essentially the same as the other stuff I was looking at (heatshield) but uses Kevlar inside the foil. I am waiting for the Heatshield tech to call back so I can inquire about wear..

Yea, that’s exactly why I haven’t used header wrap.
There’s a silicon spray you can supposedly water proof it with, just FYI.

Some header manufacturers won't warranty their product if the wrap is used. The blanket stuff and Lizard Skin roll-ons are really expensive too. I am going to do as Tim recommends with sheet-metal and stand-offs. Here in Texas I can make grilled cheese sandwiches on my floorboards right now.
