What year commandos had the 2g with the auto choke? I am fed up with my carb just plain being worn out and I awant to get a reman one but I would also like the auto choke function and I thought I had read the commandos came with a choke on the v6's certain years.

    Thanks

I suspect you won't be able to buy such a specific carb without a core.

Check with your FLAPS re availability on a '70 or '71 Jeepster carb. If any years have an automatic choke, the last years will.

Has anyone fitted an electric choke to a 2G? My 2100 on the CJ-6 now has an electric choke that I adapted... seems to work. We'll see as the weather gets colder.

I will try that. I guess I can live with my manual choke just wanted to upgrade. It seems like I saw a thread where Patrick showed some pices of grafting a choke on his 2G. I can't seem to find that. Patrick?

The Rochester on our 1970 Commando was totally worn out when we bought it last year. Aside from the leaks and dirt and wear, when the auto choke stopped working, the previous owner broke off the plastic cover, clamped a pull cable to the shaft and ran it through a hole he drilled in the dash. Biggest problem (I dont mind manual chokes) was that his home-made lever on the shaft was about 3/8" long, giving less than 1/4" pull on the cable between fully open and fully closed.
I was about to order a rebuild kit and shop for a replacement choke when my son went ahead and ordered an OEM replacement for a Buick 225 with electric choke for about $150 with no core charge. Bolted it on, hooked it up and it fired up after two turns on the starter.
Don't recall where he ordered it from but I can see if he has that if you want it.

Yep. If you have the numbers that would be great. I have a good flaps that I work with and a part # would be very helpful!

    Thanks

He says he ordered it from www.partsdude4x4.net. Just looked and it seems he's out of stock right now, but you should call him because he often hasn't updated his online list.

I spoke with my flaps. 185 for manual choke and 207 for the electric choke. Has to order in from chicago so freight would need to be added. DO these prices sound out of line? He also knows of a local rochester expert he is going to hook me up with soon. Maybe he can fix it for me.
