Well, Seeing my tub with no "JEEP" on the side got me to thinking. I had spare cowl section hanging around. So I cut out the "JEEP" from that piece and found a place to splice them in.

Sure, the hood may not have been the flattest place to splice these in, but all in all with some more filler, and a bit more more sanding it'll come out alright.

And yes, I did both sides of the hood.

Now I need to figure out some form of painted stripe to accent this update.....

Thanks, I'm thinking adding a black stripe along the side of the hood, as tall the "JEEP", then run a white or silver stripe above and below the black, kinda of a Renegade hood stripe look.

To get the new piece to match the curve of the cut out, I use a 2" dia piece of tube, clamped that and the piece into a vice, and tapped it with a hammer. I did that and compared the curve to the curved piece that I cut out until i got them to match. Trimming the hole was the hardest part, just matched the patch area, and then cut it smaller, and enlarge it till the spliced in piece matched the hole.

I was a bit surprised on how well the wire feed welder worked on the thinner metal, apparently the welding gods shone their lite upon me and I didn't burned through the thin stuff. I haven't had much experience with sheet metal work besides a few patches there and there on projects.

I'd like to get an old J10 tailgate and splice in the "Jeep" from that into my rear panel, see my avatar for the tailgate peice I'm talking about.

I like that.. I want to keep my Tux hood original so I may look for another one to do that to and I can swap them just to confuse some of these smarty know-it-all's and lie and tell them it was only original to the Tux and see how long it takes them to find out the truth.
