I've just got a 67 CJ5. I been checking out all the info on the CJ5, and of all the photos I've seen of the 225 Dauntless:v6:, they're all a green/blue color with a rounded valve cover. The valve covers I have on mine are not the same. They're somewhat rounded but are flat on top,a nd engine is a redish orange. Did Jeep have a different valve cover on the 225 :v6:? Or is my motor not a Jeep :v6:?

    :iagree:

Valve covers swap, HEI is a common swap, casting numbers don't swap.

That's not a 225, it has an even fire distributor. Most likely an even fire 231.

    Buick 231 odd or even??

I just found out by the casting numbers. It is a Buick 231 casting #'s are 1254083. According to the Earlycj5 tech page it's a Buick 231. It says that it's a 77-78.

I'm not sure if it's a odd fire or even fire.

    I guess if odd it's a 77 and even a 78 is that right?

The intake casting number is B 1260280, does anybody know?

Would the intake #'s help in tell what it is and what year?

    ODD or EVEN????:?

As stated above, it has an even fire distributor (cap, anyway)

The easiest way would be to look at the inside of the distributor.

I ck'd the cap looks like it's a even fire 78 Buick 231. Thanks for all the info. I've been working on cars off and on for many years , but Jeeps and the odd fire and even fire are new to me.

    Thanks Again,

For some reason or other, I have never messed with the buick even fire engines so never paid any attention to their firing order. Good to know this. Tnx Patrick.
