Long time reader, first time poster. I have a '69 CJ5 w/the F-134 that I received several years ago. The engine was seized (in 2 cylinders) but I have spent the past few weeks working them free. I have the engine turning over freely now but in order to break it loose I did have to pull the head off. In doing so I removed (in error) 2 of the screws that are on the rocker arms. My question 2 fold. First how do I tighten the screws down? Do I just turn till it's all tight? 2nd how tight are the bolts supposed to be? The bolts that hold down the screws. Here are some photos of the screws.

    Thanks for any help!

Not familiar with the F-134, but looks like valve adjustment screws, used to set intake and exhaust valve clearances. Maybe someone with more experience will chime in.

Screws are the adjustment screws for your exhaust valve lash. Nuts are for locking them. Put them in loose and reinstall your head and push rods. Adjust with each valve closed one at a time (lifter ALL the way down). Lifter should be on the heal of the cam lobe (You have to remove the side cover to see the lifter / cam). Turn engine to the next (all the way closed) and so forth to the #4. You want .016 between the rocker and valve stem. You will see similer (but just nut without screw on the intake inside the side cover. Do the same with the intake valves bur you want .018 between the stem and the lifter. Once you open it you should see it is easier than it sounds.

Is this cover behind the exhaust? Makes sense. Can't believe I started to remove those.

    yes
2 bolts 1 is long and has gas pedel linkage on it the other should have PCV depending on the year. You will need side cover and valve cover gaskets.

It may be a good thing that you did loosen that adjuster because more than likely they needed re-adjustment anyway. :)

for clarification, the picture shows intake rocker arms and shaft for the F4.
there are no exhaust rocker arms; but there are adjustment screws in the exhaust tappets for adjusting the exhaust valve clearance.
