ok/ I might not be in the right catagory but I'm sure Sparky will help me with this. I'm working in this mountain town and I see for sale this 5 with a house attatched to it. it's totally bizzare . hard to discribe in fact . it has a rear axle on the camper part that must steer somehow and a full jeep with a 1/2 cab for the front . has a 304 .owner said it it was a rare option (El Dorado camper unit) and there is a pic in one of my jeep books so I know it's not some hillbilly creation. wants $5000 said it runs fine . just some TLC . has all 7 hubcaps on old white walls too. My wife would TOTALLY kill me . since it's more than just a jeep but a whole house I would think this set up would go for more than 5000 but who would buy it once I fixed it up and for how much?. how many could they have made ? Imagine pulling your jeep to the desert with this jeep oh, the looks we would get! or better yet if you just dropped the camper off and then went out for a day trip. just thought I would share let me know what you think. thanks.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it, other than the design does not appeal to many people. Not a very big camper, and it extends way beyond the edges of the Jeep. Can't be great for fuel economy, and you're stuck with a half cab and no roll bar. I expect the major reason there aren't many of them around today is because it was not a big success, for the above reasons. Plus, not many people want to use a CJ for their primary vehicle - when fuel was cheap, it was more popular to drive your motorhome or camper and tow the CJ behind. A CJ is quite a small vehicle for this use, even with the bogey axle.

If other folks are like me? I'd love to have it, but not sure what I'd do with it. ;)

    mb82 I feel great!

I know what I would do with it. Leave it in the yard languishing waiting for Chia to be made drivable.

If only you could swap the camper axle with a centered 44 and run it off a PTO... if only,
