I have a 73 with a t14 but I'm assuming the switch is the same. I connected the two wires to the switch with regular female flat slip on terminals that would usually connect to a male spade connector. They slipped onto the switch and slid right into the recess that's cut into the switch posts. Like these. You have to use the style like the first on the top left.

Here's my line of thinking on the female spade connectors- I have those in the tool box, if I was to want a real connector I'd have to go to the parts emporium and while there I'd find something or three other things I'd have to have and my $3.50 trip ends up costing me $25 or more. Or maybe that's just me .

Even easier - solder a wire to each post and use a bullet connector in each wire.

The connector is designed to cover the terminals, and to insulate the switch terminals from contact with the floor. The switch is pretty close to the floor panels - I expect you kinda need the extra plastic to protect the connectors. If you want, you could fab some kind of cover for the switch.
