    I few more updates,

Made up bracket to hold new heater

Then decided I needed to make something for the speakers to mount to, took a while to figure out how I wanted to do it as I did not have enough room in the dash, I don't have any doors and I wanted to keep them off the floor in case we ended up submerged, so this is what I came up with, will fit 6x9', haven't cut out the hole yet as I'll wait till I get the speakers

The other job I did was find an alternator and then mount it and make sure it would all line up, seems pretty good, also had to make one of the support brackets as it did not come with the set I got from the US

Well the engines in, hopefully will get the body on tomorrow, a few slight problems (mounts not quite lining up) but ended up going in ok, next issue is the previous owner with the previous engine has shortened the rear shaft and lengthened the front one, so I'm going to have to fix those.

I got the body on early in the week, had a few problems with the alignment, unfortunatley again the previous owner has adapted the centre tunnel to suit the previous engine/trans setup which of course does not fit the new one, needs to move rearwards by 30mm and then about another 45mm to centralise the hole.

So I cut out the tunnel sufficiently, and will turn around the centre piece and weld it back in the right place

So once I had the centre cut I was able to move the body to line up with the mounting positions, with a bit of jigry pokey I got it to line up

Come the weekend I should get the mounts finished and maybe start the steering colum linkage between the column and the box

Fitted the rear cross member and the bumper and made up the fittings for the rear body mounts (ones missing from previous owner, remember photos of cracked floor pan)

Somehow I got my measurement wrong for the rear mounts so I ended up making some more today on the lathe, should have them fitted tomorrow.

Don't you just hate it when you repair something and then find out something related to that doesn't fit, I found again the 4wd lever hole was in the wrong place, I had repaired it before and thought I had it right but it was the opposite to my first assumption so I cut it out and re welded it in the correct location

And finally a shot from the front with the engine in and the tub fitted

My assumption has proved correct the steering shaft from box to column clashes with the alternator position, the propper CJ one might not but the Javelin one does, so I have changed the positioning, I'm trying to keep the bracket factory and adapt it to the alternate location, this is what I have come up with so far, I need to add a secondary bracket for stabilisation but think it should work.

The wife went shopping for the day so I had a good day in the garage,

Got the seats in and positioned, and put in the steering column and gear lever, seems the gear lever is too short? Would make it really challenging to change gears, so I'll make and extended one at some point

Another really good (busy) day in the garage, started the prep on the hood

    Before

    After

Now just to cut out all the rust

I then made up the new steering linkage, took me a while to figure out how to attack it but in the end worked really well. Because of changing to power steering the splines at the box did not match so I had to change that, and I wanted the ability to install/remove the linkage without having to take out the column so I need a slip joint in the link somewhere.

This is a shot of all the parts prior to welding

    And this is it finished

I'm back!!! Did ya miss me, decided to go on holiday so jeep had to take a back seat.

Anyways I got back into it today, more rust, if I had known how much was in the front fenders before starting I think I would have got new ones,

So this is what I've done,

    Before

    During

    1st layer

I ran out of 1mm steel so had to go onto another section before finishing the first

    Before

    1st layer

    Second layer

Then I sussed the gear lever as the original one didn't seem to work in the CJ6 setup,

I've also orderd my exhaust parts so I should have those next week, that will hopefully finish off the engine system and allow me to crank it up and see how it runs.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with a right hand drive CJ-6. It is on the right (as in correct) side.

Started the wiring this weekend, first off the dash seeing as it is basically the brains of the operation. Just waiting on a few relays to finish off the fuseboard and a couple of terminals to complete the dash, then I will bench test the circuits to make sure I have them right before I continue.

    A few more photos

Finished the wiring apart from the gauges (waiting on purchase) and the other external sections but the bulk of the brains is done, I'm going to bench test it tomorrow night so finger crossed.

Also got the front fenders on

And best of all got my nice new shiny radiator almost to nice to stick in a jeep

Made my exhaust system today, took alot longer than I thought, but it fits and seems to clear all the essential pieces.

A few more of the exhaust, managed to get it on tonight,

    A shot from the back

A shot of the hanger bracket I made cause I wasn't happy with the shop brought ones

A shot of the clearance between the trans mount and the exhaust on both sides

Very nice. I did my exhaust the same way except mine goes all the way to the back.
