Couldn't you just take a new aluminum shifting fork into a CNC machinist and have them turn one out in Stainless steel or any other suitable metal?
Can't you just take a fork into a CNC machinist and have them turn some out in stainless or high carbon steel and get away from the softer metals?
When you get them off get some 11 inch drums with the bendix backing plate , you'll be amazed at the difference in braking power.
