I appreciate everyone's input on my power steering conversion. I was wondering if anyone would be able to suggest a good donor vehicle for a power steering conversion. I am currently checking into saginaw, but am curious if there would be a good donor candidate.

You may want to read through the PS thread under the Fabrication section.

My PS pump came from a late 70s/early80s Buick Skylark and the box and mount bracket is from a mid 70s Wagoneer.

You could also do a search, there are a couple threads covering this topic.

Saginaw steering is the style of steering box you want, not the vehicle you need.

Good donors are GM trucks (with the box mounted inside the frame not outside) and GM B-body (full size RWD), G and H-body cars (mid-size RWD). The F-bodies are usually too fast and twitchy but one member here likes the steering box for that reason off-road.

I would get a hold of herm the overdrive guy. I am Really happy with the set up. It sits behind/under radiator, was super easy to set up, and steers great. I have a 71 so same body GL

Do you have any pics!!!? I'm trying to put together my 57 and am having trouble. Using same setup as you almost, :v6: (stock mounts) PTO winch and Herm's kit. My steering shaft lines up with my exaust manifold, and not much clearance for PTO shaft and pitman arm. I'm also running a dana30, I had to move the box forward so pitman would line up with my tire rod. Now not much room for radiator. Thanks
