Probably get a whole new axle and set up cheap enough, just find the right length and lug pattern.

Tractor Supply? Northern Tools? Ebay for sure...

Thanks for this thread, I have found it most helpful. I have a Ben-Hur 22.47 trailer that I inherited from my father several years ago. He had used it for harvesting and hauling firewood and it has been in my family since I can remember, I just never knew much about it. It has some modifications. I replaced the axle with a 3500 lb axle that takes a more standard trailer tire as I did not have a spare tire and could not find one at the time, added LED lights and changed to a 2" hitch.

Recently I crafted a PMF Foamie cover for the trailer for hauling canoe and fishing gear. The 20" bubble at the front allows me to haul 7' fishing rods in a tube in my 6' trailer. For height my goal was to accommodate 60L barrels that I use as dry storage while canoeing, so I went with a 2' height on the side panels.

I have 2 of these Early Sears trailers. I believe they are both 1948 as they both have a square axle and one has the numbers 231-246 / 3794 and the red ones tag is missing. Virtually the same except the wheels are a little different style but are 16".

I have just acquired one of the 8 foot Ben Hur/Sears Roebuck trailers. Very nice shape but missing the rear dump gate. Looking for details for that so I can fabricate one.

Interesting 16" wheels on this. Both in decent shape and will be retained.

I collect and restore WWII military vehicles and have several Ben Hur G 518 trailers.

    Pictures attached.

Here's one of my 1947 DB trailers. I put 1935 16" Ford spokes on it. Had to alter the center hole a bit but they work and look great.
