Yes, sorry, now I remember how 2 stroke engines work, no valves exhaust but po!lution with oil in fuel.
I remember the new 3 cylinders 500 cm3 kawasaki? fast stopped too dangerous. 1969 ?
We had test with a friend on Norton and this 3 'legs' , the 1st hundred meters were terrible if you succeed to keep it in line.

 

French engine ? I am proud. It's on my list of French inventions developed in an other country.
The automatic transmission 'double clutch' was invented in France in 1935 by mr Kergesse but developed by Audi in 1980. We find but nobody here wants to put money for development. No risk.
Peugeot heirs are a good example of incompetence.
We have a rich upper class which is above the normal citizen ... No more to say.

 

Alan, The Kawi you bring up is an H1. I've had the privilege of riding one of those. The first 2 trips around the neighborhood, the thing wouldn't get out of its own way because I was short-shifting. The third trip around I dropped down a couple gears before rolling on the throttle. Then I experienced the legend, and that was only a 500cc bike. They also made a 750/H2. I'll keep my Nortons!
Keeping the wood block handy for the Cerlist is a good idea. I remember a Detroit 3-71 that started running away. The guy stuffed a sweatshirt in the intake to try to stop it. It nearly ate the whole sweatshirt before splitting the blower housing open, but that stopped it.

Back in the day, We used to plug in block heaters at night . We also used kero & a gas mix as a stater fluid. These , of course , were on those 20 or below degree nights ?

I raced both H1's and H2's on the dragstrips in Fla in the early 70's. Very fast in a straight line. Did not handle worth a damn in any other type of road.

 

This is very insightful. Mine though is 12v cranking and everything else is 24v.

 

You may have already said but what is that switch function?

 

It separates voltage. Honestly I’m not entirely sure. The brief look I saw they’re used to separate 6 from 12v systems. The switch came with the rig and of course I can’t pick the grandpas brain but I imagine his intention was to to isolate the starting circuit from the 24v truck circuit.

 

A guy I used to know had a H2 with tuned pipes. On a clear cool night you could hear him cruising three miles away across the bay.

 

I raced a guy with an H 2 with my tuned Honda 750, I said go, he left, never seen again, until he stopped, the H2 was bone stock.

 

Big John when you start working on this, I suggest a "build" thread in the Jeep truck/FC technical section so it wont get purged, like it will here in off topics

 

I had just got my 67 Triumph 650 TT back together when the H1's hit the street. I left a couple of those guys wondering what was wrong with their bikes. The Triumph still looked stock but was 800 cc, 12:1, nasty cams, big carbs, balanced, and polished. It remains the fastest thing I've ever owned. It was still pulling hard at the 8000 rpm redline. 128 mph.

I did the same...still wanted one bad. Knew better than that as I watch him sail past a line of cars at 140 plus.

 

Have '02 VTX1800 now. Can't stop riding.

 

It’s in the barn, just barely. Had to remove the canopy and cut the exhaust tip. The cab had maybe an inch of clearance but it’s in. Had a buddy run the tractor to push me to the hill then guide it down. And we stuck the landing first try into the barn. I’ll probably start changing rubber fuel lines and cleaning steel lines tonight.
