My Dad picked up some Rancho stock springs for my CJ-2A. Very good christmas present. Just wondering if anyone has these. I heard they ride rough. I hope they do the trick though.

Do you mean the Rancho 1" replacement springs? I have a set on mine. Can't say they ride great, but it is definitely better than when I got it. The springs that were on it looked like they were cobbled together from several different spring packs, shorter leaves on top of longer, some had grooves the length of the spring and some did not, obviously it rode terrible. I remember thinking what an improvement these were when I put them on. So I guess "smooth" or "rough" is relative. Flex pretty good to considering they are a stock/1" spring.

I also run the 1" springs with Rancho shocks. I've always been happy with the ride...esp. after experiencing some other Jeeps.

Just don't tighten the shackle bolts as tight as they tell you to...;)

I put the Rancho Springs and shocks on my 48, didn't get much of a chance to drive it. Decided to take it all apart and redo the whole jeep. But they gave me the 2 1/2 lift I needed to run 33' tires.

! ahah Cool, sounds like that will let me run my 32s without a problem.

Not sure about that--walkerbs may be talking about a 2.5 lift--not sure-- I sure did not get 2.5" lift from mine. It is advertised as a 0-1" lift. Mine is definitely in the 0-1 range. I run 30"s and could probably run 31s if I could live with rubbing the inside of the rear tires on the inner fenders when crossed up good. Even my 30s rub but just barely. I guess an offset wheel or spacers could help some, but they are not in my plan. I don't think I could fit 32s, on the other hand I have the rancho 2.5 on my 83 cj7, and 32x11.50s are a PERFECT fit, and the ride is awesome (running rancho 9000 shocks which I think helps)

No it's true, I took 33 Swampers off and put them on my CJ-5 and put the 32's from the CJ on the 48. I'd send photos, but I have it apart now to redo.

Actually I think the 33 swampers measure out to be about 32 inches.
The 48 came with the swampers on it, and when I changed the springs the swamper still worked.

I think the CJ-5 I just sent off to Jeep heaven had some 1-inch Rancho springs in it. They were 3-leaf packs front and rear with red poly bushings. Can you guys running the 1-inch Rancho packs verify this, or do I have something else?

Could old worn out springs be the cause of u not getting the lift?
