Door Strikers Early Model CJ Late Model Doors.

Hello,

This is a question for all individuals using late model hard doors for an early model CJ. I know this is a CJ5 site but this is a question for both CJ5 and CJ7 that I own...

I have a 1982 CJ7 Jamboree but the door pillars were ripped out. My 1979 CJ5 does not have pillars. I am trying to put in striker pins for both vehicles to allow for late model paddle style doors. Has anyone used the base and pin for the striker plates and held it onto the lip of the body? Pictures are attached of the base and the pin....
