Hey guys I have 68 CJ5 with a newer windshield frame and I want to get a winter enclosure for it. But I'm not sure if I match it to the frame or body?

The top will have to match the windshield frame.
55-75 is one style (will either have top mount wipers or bottom mount wipers with the motor on the outside)
76-83 is the other style (bottom mount wipers with the motor on the inside, also leans back further than the earlier ones)

There is actually three tops if you are getting a Bestop. I am sorry but I don't remember the years though. I think it is 55-71, 71-75 and 76-83

A lot of people do not know about that middle group being different some how but Bestop informed it is when I asked them what a top will cost for my Jeep. I personally don't understand how it can be different but they make the tops and I assume they would know.

But, I am off topic. You match it to the windshield like Colojeepguy said. Now I just need to work out what year frame I have... ;)

Bestop listings are for '55-'75 CJ-5 either Tigertop or Supertop. '55-'75 CJ-6 Tigertop only, '76-'83 CJ-5 with multiple options, '76-'86 CJ-7 with multiple options. I can tell you from personal experience a soft top or hard top from an Intermediate will fit an Early and vice-verse as long as the '76 and newer windshield has not been installed or other mods have not been made.
