So now that I have gas in the jeep an rebuild the carb and switched/replaced vacuum lines, (see other post) now when ever I hit the pedal quickly the jeep bogs then sputters and dies. Looking at the edelbrock website they say this symptom can be caused by the vacuum advance being hooked up to the wrong port on the carb... which it was not it is hooked to the timed port that they call for. Wondering if the problem is my accelerator pump? to much or too little fuel when I hammer it? I have the linkage hooked in the bottom hole on the pump... I will try moving them around tomorrow and see if that changes anything... any other thoughts?
    Thanks, Jake

Sounds like too little of a shot from the acceleration pump

I recall a similar issue when I swapped in a Motorcraft 2100 into my CJ7. Ran like a top unless I stomped on it, then it stumbled.. I went off a general suggestion of manifold vacuum reading minus 2. My manifold vacuum at idle was 10.5 inches, bought an 8.5 power valve which solved my issue.

That's what I was kind of thinking as well. I have the linkage adjusted to the furthest hole on the pump so it should be getting the max amount of fuel... Should I take the carb back apart and check out the pump? Could I have done something wrong in reassembly? I can hear fuel squirting when the engine is off and I move the linkage by hand...

So after a few more minutes of tinkering today I realized that the jeep isn't just sputtering and firing like I said in my previous post but it is actually backfiring when I push the throttle quickly... (Found that out the warm way) I tried moving the accelorator pump linkage to no avail... I am still having the same problem no matter the position of the linkage...
