I have an auxiliary tank under the seat of my jeep it sat for nearly 13 years unused and both tanks got very rusty... I replaced the rear tank... (Not fun) I was wondering if there was a solution to the problem or if I should just replace the tank up front as well? Any kind of paint or clear coat or other chemical that can be applied without blocking the fuel outlet?
    Thanks in advance

:)Replace it............can't hardly get them boiled out any more for less than the cost of a new one.......but with rust it's a loser..........maybe go plastic this time around?

Lots of them in service.........never heard a complaint. Google up Jeep gas tank. There is a company back East making all the Jeep replacement tanks.

Thanks. Last question... I didn't put the tank under the seat so I am unsure of the year of the tank. Did the under the seat tanks differ in any way or will I be ok getting any tank designed for a jeep pre 71?

They differed with the 4cyl and the 6cyl engine, IIRC the 6cyl's had a spot for a return line.
