Welp Ive servived the runing gear part of my project now its time for the body. The whole bottom of my tub was more or less gone so I have a couple question.First question is bolt locations , best I can tell theres 9 holding the tub on and 1 for the nose piece. (4 on the rear cross,3 body tabs, 2 directly on top of the frame) Is that every thing? Ok second question, is about body bushings. From what I could tell mine was on quater of a inch thick 2 by 2 inch square peices of rubber ,was that stock? Or did they come with dounut type bushings? If its the square ones I can cut me some "new" ones out of some old convaier belt I got laying around here . But how high should it be , quater of a inch? Of course pics of a factory tub would help. I looked at fheadguys SAT when I went up there but he had a after market tub and said he had to raise it up a we bit to make it work out right. Thanks in advance.

The 2x2 square rubber was stock. Much like conveyor belt, or old tires :D
Not going with a little body lift?

As for your count it sounds right, but mine is a glass tub and it's been 10 yrs since I did the tub mounts so I don't recall, other than I know some of mine are not in the stock location....

I just bolted the tub on the '68 parts Jeep and that sounds right. If going for resto then you can use the conveyor belting type, but if gonna use it off road then I'd get some of the polyurethane ones (that's what I use). They allow more movement betweent the body and frame so you get fewer body cracks, plus they don't seem to squeak as much, at least on mine. They do lift the body about 1/2" more than stock. Has anyone used mounting material that 4WD hardware recommends for their fiberglass bodies to mount a steel body? I have some that I was thinking of making some mounts but wasn't sure if it would hold up to the metal body. Is anyone familiar with it? It's nice because you cut whatever thickness you need and go. The throught hole is already there.

I used the salami under my glass tub. It works pretty well, but is a b!tc# to get a straight cut. Hacksaw, sawzall, etc all tend to result in a curved cut. A bandsaw might work best, but I've even heard of bad results with that.

A thin red-hot wire would probably give the best cut

My tub is an old glass tub and is heavier than steel and I've had these mounts on for 10 years. No reason why it shouldn't work for steel tub that I can see.

It is hard to cut. I had a heck of a time cutting it when I installed a fiberglass body on my first jeep. I have material left over and was thinking of making some new mounts.
My current jeep I have replaced all my floors with 12 gage sheet metal and reinforced and created mounting points with square tubing. At this time I have the body bolted straight to the frame. Seems to be working well however I haven't been off-road. Like I said I was thinking of adding some rubber mounts to help flexing and maybe alittle lift.
Question: Is the front Mount under the grill. Should it be the same thickness as all the others? I dont have the originals to go by. The front one that I have has a metal sleeve that goes down through it. Does this sleeve need to be there?

I think I counted 13 bolts holding the tub to the body on my M38A1. My Cj5 is too rusty for me to tell what it came with.

Does anyone have a source for the poly bushings? I'm feeling too lazy to search right now. I started my night job last night. I'm tired.
