Advice on rear Hubs

    Hi,

    Looking for some advice or tricks for pulling rear hubs on a 1957 CJ5, stock dana 44, I have not had any luck with a puller/PB blaster and taping with a hammer. Thanks in advance.

    You might try soaking them down every day for 2-3 days, and putting the puller on one as tight as you can get it. Use a BIG hammer on the end of the puller's screw. This is not the place for finesse! You could always put the puller on it and leave it sit overnight under pressure. By morning it will likely be laying on the other side of the garage!

    You ARE using a heavy duty puller, right? No wimpy gear puller is going to work here!

    PS- don't leave anything valuable in the path between the hub and the wall! :)

    You need to have the right puller, a big one with at least 3 legs and 5 is better that uses a BFH to turn a knocker.
    P.S. leave the nut on loosely as it has been known to fly across the room when it finally comes loose.
    A google search should bring up a pic of a hub puller. I prefer the OTC brand for new ones out there.
    Please fill in your location as there is probably a member close to you that may let you borrow.

    Puller type is critical, as said. The wrong kind will warp or break a drum.
