Hello everyone, I've done a little looking around & haven't found a definitive answer. I'm curious as to how hook up my cable clutch linkage to a gm clutch fork. I'm putting an all aluminum ls in my 56 cj 5 & do I need to drill a hole in my clutch arm & adapt it to work or does someone offer the part I'm looking for. I'd like to keep the original through the floor pedals. I have everything together & looking for ideas or opinions. I know aa has a chain linkage I'm considering, but curious about hooking to the clutch fork. I'll put up pics as I actually start the conversation.

Knowing what engine, transmission, transfer case, pedals, etc you plan on using is helpful. Saying all original is helpful but then you say something indecipherable about an aluminum something. Can we get some clarification here?

First off do you have the two brackets that locates the clutch cable at each end?..........one bolts to the frame near the pedal assembly and the other to the tranny or transfer case.......your cable should have a clevis at the pedal end and the other end should just be the threaded spud that sticks out from the cable housing several inches...............the correct clutch fork at the attaching end should have a small round dimple at the end .........with a hole in the middle and a slot to slide the cable through......there should also be a special rounded sided washer that fits in the dimple.........that is held on the clutch fork by the threaded spud........two nuts on the cable spud for adjustment and your good to go.

Okay, I have all my original clutch linkage & cable. I'm putting an a ls1 engine & gm bellhousing in my jeep. I'm using my muncie 4 speed out of my 77 with a dana 20. What I'm wondering is do I need to modify my gm clutch fork to accept the cable or is there a clutch fork available. I'm wanting to keep my through the floor pedals. I'm guessing I'm going to have to modify the clutch fork so as to accept the cable?

    ...........

Yep needs to be modified to accept the cable...........I doubt there is another later chevy that uses a cable operated clutch..........see if you can find an old Buick V6 clutch fork to look at ........then modify your chevy fork to match.........keep in mind that cable needs to be greased to operate correctly..........

Thanks tarry, that's good information. I'm trying to track down a clutch fork for a monza, I believe they were cable operated also, so depending on the length of the arm, it should be a simple swap.

Clutch fork for a Monza pivots on the passenger side of the bellhousing and the cable pulls forward, not back like the Jeep arm. I have a Monza bellhousing sitting in the shop and will try and get a pic later today.
