Single chamber master cylinder on a 67 CJ5 w/ a F134. Does the plunder end of the push rod just sit inside the MC? What holds it into the MC?

Proper adjustment and the rubber bellows boot holds it in place.

    That's what I presumed.

Does the rubber bellows boot go over the thicker piece in the center of the push rod or only up to this peice around the thin portion or the rod? In other words, what of the push rod is inside the boot? It apprears the new rod that came with my master cylinder is longer than my previous push rod? The original rod is pitted so I hesitate to reuse this being it could chew up the boot?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jim

Going from memory here but iirc the boot goes around the thicker portion up by the adjuster. Between the thick hex and the thin hex. The boot does not "ride" on the pushrod, in other words it doesn't slide on the shaft.
