74 CJ5 tail lights

I am in need of some original tail lights for my 74 CJ5 does any body know where I can get some used ones cheap? Or does some body make reproductions that I can buy? It seems that the 1972-75 CJs have weird tail lights that are hard to find.

    Thanks,
    Aubrey

www.4wd.com has them. Look in the vintage section.

Also Collins Brothers Jeep keeps a lot of old parts on hand.

Do you have pics of the tailights you need?

From what I have seen, everyone selling vintage "replacement" taillights are just selling a 4" universal round tailight -- the same thing you can get at napa or Walmart for $12/pr or less.

See http://www.film.queensu.ca/CJ3B/Dating/Taillights.html for a good writeup on tailights.

Your 74 taillights (mfg by Hall) are almost impossible to find. I've been looking for years. The ones offered for sale are bascially trailer lights that have a "similar" shape.

I have a neighbor with a 73 sitting in his front yard rusting away -- He won't fix it, or sell it. It pains me everytime I drive by. That's as close to getting the lights as I've come.

Are you doing a restoration or a rebuild? On my 75, which I did get a little anal about making it pretty, I just used 76+ taillights.

Thanks for all the info. Right now my Jeep has some kind of square trailer tail lights on it. The CJ3B page has excellent info about the tail lights but unfortunately no one makes reproductions of the Hall lights from the early seventies. I think I'm going to stick with the ones I have now until I can find some real ones in a junk yard or some where else.

    Thanks,
    Aubrey
