I just ordered a Holley 8007 390 cfm 4 barrel from Autoplicity for $287 including shipping if anybody is in the market for one. Pretty good price if it turns out alright. Bob

Thanks to your heads-up, I also ordered one. A great price, almost too good to be true.
Well, we all know what happens....
I just got a notice from Autoplicity that they cancelled my order and are refunding my payment. They offered no real reason, something about "ships from the manufacture".
Good luck and hope yours goes though.

Yes I just got the same notice. I think they realized the price was too low and used a lame out of stock excuse when I called Autoplicity. I think they realized the price was way low because I find it hard to believe Holley is out of stock because the same carb is available all over the internet but at much higher prices. Won't ever use these guys again. Bob

If you don't mind my asking, what are you putting it on?

Rover 4.2 alloy V8. Very close cousin to our Dauntless, as it was designed as the 215 ci (3.5 liter) at the same time as the Buick 198 (pre-dauntless). Lot of parts interchange.
This one is going in '70 Marcos GT.

What in the world has that have to do with the original post about Autoplicity?

The original post topic was about the Holley 8007, only related to Autoplicity as a supplier. We were only answering eti's question, which was valid.
These are nice carbs for smaller displacement V6/V8 engines as they keep higher velocities for better mixing, as opposed to the more common 500 and larger cfm carbs that are more popular. For some reason, these 390's bring as much as a $200 premium over the similar larger models.
Sorry for this thread going off a different direction.

Simple economics explains the price diff...They sell many many more of the 600 cfm 4 bbl carbs, so the prices reflect that.

And to muddy the waters just a little bit more, I was told that a Holley 500cfm 2 barrel would be the absolute perfect match for a 225 V6. I actually bought a new one but never put it on. Anyone running such a thing and if so does it do the job? One of the selling points is that it can be re-jetted externally. WCP

I don't think you could ever get a 500CFM 2bbl. to run efficiently on a 225. I was able to tune an Edelbrock 500CFM 4bbl. to run good on one of mine, but I think it was on the verge of being too big. Even if you get the mixture right, the venturis are simply too big and you can not get proper velocity. On the 4bbl., you are normally running on the front two barrels only, so you aren't trying to flow through a 500CFM rated venturi size until the secondaries open. On a 2bbl., it's flowing through the 5ooCFM rated venturis all the time. My opinion, YMMV.

I ran a Holley 500cfm 2bbl on the 2.3 Four Banger in my dirt track pinto, but that had a bunch of camshaft in it, and had practically *nothing* under about 4000 rpm, I'd have to say I'm with Patrick, in that it wouldn't be a good match for a 225

Perhaps making sure it was in fact a finalized sale with parts in hand and used before posting may have eliminated any issues in this thread before they cropped up?

500 2bbl is WAY too big for a 225...as Patrick mentioned above, if that carb was a 4bbl, it'd be 1000 cfm!
Also, Holleys have to have the fuel bowl removed to change jets.
My current carb is a Holley Truck Avenger 470....it's taken a lot of tuning to get it working properly.

My reason for posting was to let people know the way Auotplicity works in light of the fact that they cheerfully took my money and provided me with an order # and said the item ships from the manufacturer Holley. If Holley is out of stock then wouldn't it be reasonable to offer a backorder notice especially in light of the fact that I could order one from Summit and get it shipped the same day but obviously at a much higher price. I am assuming Summit buys direct from Holley and the have right on their web page for each item whether it is available or if it will be backordered and even give a timeframe for such backorders. I agree that I probably should have waited till I had said carb in my greasy little hands before letting people know about this great deal but it was advertised as a "Black Friday" limited time offer so I just wanted to let people in time to take advantage of it. As in most things with internet commerce .....buyer beware.
