I am trying to install a Ramsey PTO behind an overdrive and the PTO is hitting the floor pan. I am currently using the Walcks body mount pads which are about 1/4 inch thick. Is this a normal problem?

What are my options and which one is best? So far as I can tell, I can either raise the body up some or drop the cross member a bit. Is one better than the other?

I need to figure this out asap so I can get the tub on the frame. 038.JPG

If you drop the crossmember that will effect driveline/u-joint angles so something to consider. Might consider a combination of both as the tub will shift around when driving and the frame will flx moving the drivetrain around.

I ran into the same issue- I dropped the xmember about 3/4".

3/4" drop doesn't seem to be to much that would negatively affect drive line issues. I worry shimming the body will affect the other issues like pedal hole location. I wonder in 1/2" would be sufficient. The clearance in there is very tight without anything. I assume this is a common issue.

Howard, how did 3/4 of an inch drop in the cross member affect the shifter performance/location?

The only thing I've found is the xfer hi/low shifter cane bangs against the rear of the floor pan hole in high range- this may turn out to be an issue on bumpy roads. note that dropping the xmember is common practice when fitting four speeds, in fact the factory did it for T98s.

You don't want any body parts to touch the drive train. It can get really noisey. I was concerned with mine and, replaced all of the rubber bits with pieces cut from 1/4" mud flaps. Better.

Your drive train should slop down 5 degrees to the rear. So the overdrive and pto adapter should make for more floor clearance since its longer.
Do you have body mount cushions between the frame and body?

My drive train is perfectly level. I have the body mount cushions installed. I think I'll just lower the cross member a tiny bit.
