Gentlemen, there doesn't seem to be an easy answer to the height issue.
I even thought of replacing the rear bow bracket bolts with quick release pins (thats down to you Focker) or fitting lower shockers.
Why did nobody mention the shockers, is it any crazier than the other options you gave?
Just in case you didn't realise, Im not a techie, no specific skills in mechanics or auto-electrics but I get by with a bit of help and common sense approach to problems. If that doesn't work, I'll save my pennies and get a professional to do it for me.
Now I have a problem with my brake lights, so I'll start a new thread about that.
Thanks for support and the razzing on this thread

Rick, we dont drink warm beer!
We drink it chilled so it's cool and you can taste the flavour.
Come to the U.K. and drink some Newcastle Brown Ale, made in my home town (city).
We dont have Lucas refridgeraters, we only have quality goods here.
    Imported from Japan LOL.

Newcastle is on my list of favorites. My problem is its so smooth I can't help but guzzle it , which gets expensive.

Its nickname is 'Dog' maybe becauase after a few bottles you howl like a dog!
An old friend was a production manager at the brewery and took us in one day years ago and we had some one day old.
Man, there was nothing to compare!
    Happy Hic days.

Lucas at one time made vacuum cleaners. The only product in their line that didn't suck.

    Easy compromise.
Yes this issue is still going on.
I've just got my bow brackets from Pete Debella so at least I can have my bows attached to the jeep.
As you can see, if I attach my spare set of rear brackets towards the front of the jeep, all I should need to do is loosen the side and rear straps, lift the bow out of the rear bracket, slide bow into the second rear bracket set.
This way the hood will be partially supported and I can still drive it in and out the garage without the hood collapsed around me. 2016-07-02 16.19.56.jpg 2016-07-02 16.26.34.jpg

    George,

On this continent the "hood" is what you call the "bonnet." God knows why.
We would say "top" for the canvas roof.

Are you still required to have a man with a red flag walk in front of your horseless carriage?

Two countries separated by a common language.;) But then the French call spark plugs "candles." Go figure.

Interesting pics. I've never seen a gas ("petrol") filler in that location. And those seem to be desirable flanged axles.

    Hi Pete.
Yes I meant the canvas top.
Just me trying to be clever and Americanism my writing and making a total balls up!
CJ5's were built from 1970 with the petrol filler to the rear as far as I've seen on various sites and literature.
So Pete, with the vented windshield and flanged axles is there anything else special about this jeep?
I would rather have yours if it was a M36A1C

I guess you are right about the fuel filler - I just keep thinking (wrongly) of your jeep as an M38A1. And some later fillers were on the rear face of the body.

Mine is indeed an M38A1C, but regretably it is lacking the 106mm gun.

I wish it was a M38A1 but it is what it is and M38a1 parts semi to fit it just fine!
