What I'm concerned about is clearnce to front grille radiator mounting and such could use some help with pics and ideas. Also motor mounts since upon closer inspection there isn't any at this point just exhaust pipes that that are resting on frame . Looked at xmember for transmission and noticed wooden spacers in between frame and xmember also :shock:

Looking for motor mounts I have a xmember for the front of motor but not in place.Am used to seeing on side of motor not just mounted to front of block. How is radiator mounted sheetmetal was removed front xmember removed and looks like he tried to bolt radiator directly to grill. Also front sheetmetal support PO welded tabs to frame rail and fenders to connect them. But I'm not giving up yet.

Here's some pics of the radiator mount, motor mounts (top and bottom), exhaust routing and over all appearance. If you need more or have questions, let me know.
There will be 3 relpys to handle all of the pics ;)

Not only possible, common, or else it used to be. Even a warmed up SBC is a lot of engine for a T90 though. The 4.3L Chevy V6 is more common today, since it fits in the engine compartment better and is widely available. Some info on the Novak site: http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/cj5_55-71_swap.htm

Dennis why not put a 350 buick, its got alot more torque then a small block chevy and is a perfect fit with the exception of the radiator and cowl, no distributor problems, motor mounts work , bellhousing is the same it fits like it was made for it.

Very nice, but I bought the jeep with the 350 in it. I have done nothing to the engine or engine compartment yet. I haven't had to. I am leaving all options open when it comes time to do something there. The 350 buick is a great idea.

Dennis, I'm sorry I meant to address this to Jim not you. I had remembered that you said you purchased your jeep with the small block in it I just mistyped the name when I posted.;)

Mike the 327 is already sorta there and purchased with this jeep.$400 is what I gave for it. gonna see if it runs if it does well then time to continue if not I'll use the tub to replace my 69 with. But I'm hoping it runs so I can convince the wife to let me continue on this project.

Jim, you should be able to make this combo work well. Lots of SBC CJs have been built in the past.

Mcruff, those pictures of the buick V8 swap, who's Jeep is that? The reason I ask I was doing a search awhile back because I wanted to see how close it would be to the front crossmember. I thought that There were pictures of one here but couldn't remember who had it. I have found a 340 out of a 66 or 67 Buick and I'm thinking of using it for a swap in the near future.
