It's too close to get the pulley on, and I'm not sure about getting a radiator in there either.

I had not thought about the radiator.

With a Jeep but not the CJ. Went down to Italy, Tx. and picked up this M416 trailer. Going to do a semi-restore. Basically wirewheel/flap wheel it down and recoat/paint, new tires, ect. Want to keep it mostly like it would have been when it rolled off the line in the 60s. Just going to haul camping gear and be a light duty around the property work trailer for the CJ5 and XJ.

Snow storm is coming, I just have to look at my sanitary system. picture one.
Then I have to install my new cigar system, to have more appliances in the Jeep.
I had to buy a tool to cut holes in steel, 1st time in my life.
For 17 euros, I got a set on Amazon! And it works.
And this evening, snow and wind are here. The Jeep will be ok, but not the cigar system, a little bit cold in the barn. No need to hurry.
I bought some new tools recently, small, cheap, but very useful, progress all the time, thanks to Amazon.
What is surprising, we order un Sunday evening, delivery Monday morning... we are in a lost place! Mystery.
Picture one : sanitary (only the beautiful picture, the others are for the technic office)
    picture 2 & 3 : the cigar system
    picture / yes, snow!

Front shocks installed, brakes bled, and working on this trash again. There should be enough room to run the tubes straight down and then make a hard right turn for the collector to connect. Needless to say, pure torture.

Idea's here for you........ Modify the cross member for ~ a inch for your damper pulley. Get a snub nose water pump on there, & then use electric cooling fans on the radiator . Gonna be tight , but I think that's gonna be your best plan of attack for those problems. (y)

That might work, but it's expensive, and remember this thing is being built on a teenager's budget. I have all the brackets and pulleys from the F150 donor and I'd really like to use all those....alternator, PS, even have the AC compressor.

Another wrecking yard option for a shorter small block Ford is the 94/95 Mustang or 96-01 explorer front setup. They are very similar to each other and are couple inches shorter than the old style and shouldn't be too hard to find cheap.

It's pretty narrow down low which makes it nice for Jeep use. The only drawback is the lack of a mechanical fuel pump pad. You would have to go electric.

Picture of the Explorer setup with the AC pump removed and a shorter belt installed:

You have to remember, with that set up you have to have the reverse rotation water pump also.

Yes that's true. If you do a belt driven fan, you need to make sure the Pitch is in the correct direction for the reverse rotation water pump.

So with this setup you'd have to use the Explorer timing cover?

    Fireball Well-Known Member 2024 Sponsor 2023 Sponsor 2022 Sponsor

Yes, timing cover, all pulleys, waterpump, all accessories, all accessory brackets need to com from an Explorer. Basically everything forward of the block.

The setup pictured is for the small block destined for my flatfender.

I reached a milestone today with my CJ5 build . I shot 100 lbs of sand and red rust primer on the entire bottom and firewalls. More in my build thread.

No turning back now. The 3" piece is currently destined to be a driveshaft loop(s), maybe. Haven't made up my mind just yet.

I didn't do as good of job on the bikini top as I did my brothers, but it will serve the purpose, and if I become bored, I can always make another one;)
