I found an auction on ebay listing supports for the hatch on '70's/'80's metal hard tops. My hardtop is lacking these, and I'm thinking of bidding but neither I nor the seller are sure they are correct. I'm pretty sure my top is a meyer like the ones Jeep installed from the factory up to '75. Here's a link to the picture, does anyone know if these are the correct ones?

    Thanks, Mark

They're the correct type but length will matter. Ask the seller to measure them in the stretched out/locked in place mode and compare that to the measurement you have where the brackets should be attached to the top and the hatch. At least get a ballpark idea anyway. I'm sure someone here can give you the correct measurement if you need it.

I just emailed the seller and I'll see how they respond. The auction ends in about an hour and a half, so I doubt someone here will see it in time to tell me if the length is correct. I'll try measuring on the top to see if it looks about right. I did notice there are 3 mounting holes along the vertical side of the hatch opening. Any idea which holes are supposed to be used to mount the supports? I did the part number, AMC JEEP #2043669.

I've got a Kelley hardtop so can't really help on the holes, and my Jeeps' at home and I'm at work so I can't really give a ballpark idea on mine either. If you don't get those, places that sell service type truck bodies should have them or something close enough in length to work.

Thanks Glenn! I got the following reply from the seller:

Arms measure 11-1/2" and extend to 20-1/2", holes on both ends body and liftgate measure 1-1/2" center to center.

I went out and measured my top, and the mounting holes match the 1 1/2" spacing. Eyeballing it, the length also appears to be about right. I think I'm probably going to go ahead and roll the dice! Thanks for the advice!

Well, I bought them. NOS, $20 plus shipping for the pair. I hope they fit.
