Chief Mechanic Wifey And Desertdaves 66 Build

    Looking for a replacement cable for the old belview crank.
    Thinking synthetic? Any thoughts or advice? Pros/cons?

    synthetic and dirt dont play nice,nor do rocks. i vote steel.

    Hardley any really. More for convenience of not haveing steel threads to deal with. L

    I'd go with time proven steel cable.
    Then you're ready for any use that arises.
    Cool factor of synthetic is for mall crawlers.

    I'll go against the grain.... I like the synthetic. People can go back and fourth all day. It's kinda like black wheels.... :poke:
    I have used my winch on a hitch mount quite a few times before I permanently mounted it.. The synthetic rope makes the winch way lighter and keeps some weight off the front end. I have 2 10' chaf guards on my rope that I can slide to necessary places. When you wind the synthetic rope on the drum, you will need to tension it/ kinda stretch it out. Also, you will need to keep a cover on the winch as sunlight degrades the rope over time. You can definitely abuse the wire allot more than the synthetic. It's just whatever a guy likes. People can argue one may be safer than the other all day long.
    I'm not too worried about looking mall crawler. I have too many pictures of my jeep with dead animals dripping blood down the side.:beer:
