Always An Adventure.. Oil Hose

So after just doing a major project on the jeep (rebuilt transmission, new leaf springs and shackles, installed OD) I was all ready to drive it all weekend. Was running great!

Oil pressure was a little higher than when I parked it for 3 months.. 60psi compared to 30-40 before... strange.

Driving it home at 7:30 pm with my 3 year old daughter.. smoke starts billowing out of the hood.

Park asap in a lot, pop the hood to find everything is covered in oil, and there is a huge puddle under the jeep.

The oil inlet hose from block to filter popped off of the crimped fitting, spraying oil everywhere.

Anyone else had a bad experience with these omix hoses? I opted for some american made goodyear rubber hoses from QTM this time..

 

Omix = bad on most things.

 

yep it happened to me. The hoses I used were off shore made. I made new ones using 1/4 copper tubing from the hardware store. As long as it's supported so it can't vibrate or move around it will work.

 

While I still lived in Spokane, Wash. I got my hoses (fuel and oil) from the House of Hose. Any chance there is one near you?

 

My Flaps makes hydraulic hoses.
