Valve Cover Oil Baffle.

I talked about this as part of anther thread, but cant find it.

Is the baffle that is bolted down with the rocker arm shaft on a V6 225 supposed to go under oil fill hole or PVC valve?? I ask because someone on this site told me oil fill hole to prevent leaks. I put it there and had a severe interference with the oil cap. I turned it around because I could not find a picture of it mounted on the head and thought that would solve the problem. It helped, but still a hard rub between the baffle and bottom of oil cap.

Where does it go.
What is correct mounting orientation.
Is there a torque value suggested for valve cover bolts using a cork gasket.

No, the baffle is under the valve cover. It is held in place by 2 of the 3 bolts that hold the rocker shaft assembly on the head. The baffle is a sheet metal piece that mounts over two of the 3 sets of rocker arms.

 

On mine 1966 the baffle is on the right rear of the head and is under the PCV valve and hose.

 

Walt describes the correct location.
It is there under the PCV valve to prevent oil droplets from being vacuumed into the PCV valve, through the hose and into the engine

 

I got it in wrong place. change it tomorrow.
