I need a passenger side seat frame or bracket (or what ever its called) for my 67 Cj5. I have a new low back bestop low back seat, and what seems to be an older seat frame . Not sure how to get the new seat in the jeep.

Any suggestions ? New frame ? Adapt existing frame ? NOS part ? Used part ?

Is there a place that sells new brackets ? I looked on ebay, no luck. I searched this forum no luck either.

    Thanks a bunch.

I did exactly what you're doing Chris. New Bestop Low Backs. The drivers side fit perfectly. The pass side did not. I cut a piece of sheet metal (18 ga) the size of the bottom of the seat. Then I laid out two sets of holes...one that matches the holes in the seat frame and the other that matches the holes in the bottom of the seat. Then I bolted the sheet metal to the frame and sat the seat in place and bolted the seat to the sheet metal.

That worked fine for me for a while, and then I built a new frame to support both seats.

Baby John's finished seat frame was excellent. You can see pics here.

    Yep Johns looked good. ;)
I'm in the same boat as you are. I am working on useing the stock frame but have some of it off. Only useing the bottom part of the old fold and tumble.
Shouls have used Johns idea though. Just stubborn or stupid sometimes I guess.

The frame that is on my passenger side looks more like the old M38A type frame than the CJ5 frame. The seat was built into the frame itself. I am looking for a new frame that will support the use of the bestop low back seat.

    Thanks

I guess I could cut the back off the current seat frame, and mock up a mounting bracket to line up the mounting holes on the bottom of the seat. The bracket/frame I have now is the loop style one with the seat back built into the frame.

Does anyone know where I could just buy a new CJ5 still passenger seat bracket ?

I did see a seat bracket for fiberglass bodies in the parts books.
