I need help with more axles questions

I think this will be my last axle spec question, I hope. Ok what is the deal with the GM 12 bolt. Why don't many manufactures make lockers for them, are they junk, is the R&P interchangable with a 10 bolt, whats the deal. I know the housing is a little bigger and the R&P is what 0.25 larger. Can I stick a locker like an OX or an Eaton Elocker in a 12 bolt housing??? I need a drink.

 

Reason why not too many make lockers for the 12 bolt is the many variations in Case dimensions and ring and pinion dimensions based on application. Example, one for a truck is different than one for an El-Camino which may be different than one for a Nova. Just too many variations. To answer the other question, no, you can't put 10 bolt cases and gears in a 12 bolt without a lot of very expensive custom machine work. By the way, there are a bunch of different variations of the 10 bolt as well.
That's why I prefer Dana axles over GM Corporate stuff. Much more standardized and available. Nickmil.
