hey guys, i just found out from justin that my starter is crapong out. my question is there anything that would have caused a brand new starter(3 months old at the most (before the accident)) to go bad. or is the possible case just that it was a faulty starter. could the accident have caused it to go bad? thanks in advance!

First question is "Where did this starter come from?"
Was it new? Or a remanufactured...
If it came from a parts store that is quick to point out that they have a "lifetime" warranty... Oh man. I feel your pain.

Unless something impacted the starter I would say no. I am back to faulty starter.

cranking alot burned up the armature in mine. i recommend taking it apart and cleaning it up and see if that helps.

    What is your starter doing?

I would take it back to the store. Ask to see the see the manager. I just took back an alternator and exchanged it without my reciept. He said there parts are good for at least a year if you don't buy something with a lifetime warrenty.

The guy had a record of when I bought it, and it was matched to my phone number. It was at our local O'Rielly's store. Those guys here in our small town are very helpful.

since im not there with my jeep and i did not talk with my friend at length about it im not exactly sure what its doing. i know he is very mech inclined, but all he said was that its starting to go and it takes a couple times to get her fired up. it sounded to me like it wasnt cranking over

It could be as simple as a loose or dirty connection of a battery cable. I had a loose ground cable and man would mine crank slow. I replaced the cable (it was old anyway) and cleaned the connections and she cranks nice and fast again.
