My passenger side knuckle is leaking. It seems to be leaking from the seal and not the cap. I refilled it last night and it left a good size puddle this morning. I am looking at replacing some parts and I am wondering if it would be smart to replace all (knuckles, kp bearings,kp cup and caps, kp shim set and knuckle seal kit) or would I be better off just replacing seals? Just the other day I noticed a clunk as I started off from the stop. It was coming from the passenger side knuckle area. This am with fluid in it there was no clunk.

Rebuild, but keep the original knuckle.

Or try knuckle pudding in it (50/50 bearing grease and gear lube) as a stop-gap.

Jack up that corner of the Jeep and try shaking the tire up and down. Look at the knuckle while you wiggle it. There should be no movement of the knuckle. If there is, the KP bearings are gone. I'd also disconnect the tie rod and steer the wheel back and forth by hand (while it's still jacked up) to see what it feels like. If everything seems tight, you can just change the seal. It's about a 15 minute job. Definately refill the knuckle with "pudding" instead of just straight gear oil. If you're using gear oil you can just pour it out of the container right on the driveway and save yourself the trouble of getting under the Jeep to fill the knuckle. R)

sounds like rebuilding time. if you go this route, polish the ball end of the axle to help w/sealing (600 grit emery paper). also i used a ONE PIECE RUBBER seal from napa (can't remember part #), seems to work better than the 2 piece one.
