I got my steering componants all together. Tonight i started to put them together. I put th eford pitman arm up on the box before and it fit, but up high on the shaft, just below the housing. Well tonight i went to tighten it down and the nut bottoms out on the threads before getting the pitman arm tight. I am wondering if can add a spacer so that the nut will tighten the arm up so i can use the pitman arm? Or is this dangerours. It does fit the splines at the top. Should i avoid this?

I dont think it should be a problem. Is there a shoulder on the shaft for the spacer to bottom on? Just make sure that the spacer won't rub on the seal or anything like that and you'll be good to go.

It will be between the nut and the bottom of the pitman arm. The pitman arm goes right under the housing. Only thing i am worried about is that i wont have enough room to tighten it. right now without the the hold down nut, i have about 1/8 space between the top of pitman arm and gear housing, if i tighten it, then i probably will have to go past the 1/8 to get it to tighten down, so then it will be right on the housing :( Maybei just answered it myself. Better srat looknig again. Sucks too because i got a tie rod end for this arm :(

    hmmm
I would think the pitman should not go all the way up, there should be a gap of an inch or so.
there is a difference in diameter between power and manual; somebody monky with your arm or box?

No the box and arm are fine. i am trying to use a ford arm. it is very close, but guess not close enough. Going to now ditch thi ford arm adn get a waggie arm.
