    Hello all,

I have found that one of the four top holes on my knuckle for the Kink Pin Bearing holder is stripped. I assume it is, but is it possible to heli-coil that hole and install a larger bolt?

You could Helicoil and use the original bolt. The Helicoil restores the original threads typically.

I did this with the Dana 25 in my CJ2a - worked perfectly.

nope. I was a little nervous about it but really had nothing to lose and so far so good.

Unless the knuckle iron is crumbly, the Helicoil should be stronger than the original threads. Larger diameter, more thread and surface area.

Thanks all. Going to give it a try when I get back home this weekend. I’ll post how it goes.

Two of the bolts on one of the knuckles (I "think" it's the right side) got helicoiled during the axle rebuild.
