Show Me Your Bumpers!

So my '76 project has no front bumper, wondering what's out there for a CJ? I've heard you can make a YJ bumper fit, just looking for something semi-economical that looks good with the CJ's lines. Whatcha got?

 

get a piece of steel tube, make cutouts for frame horns and drill for bolts. cheap and simple.

 

I made front and rear in my garage. 2X4 tubing 5/16". Box ends.. Easy peasy

 

Here is the simple style I have used and made for others a lot. Pick up 2 pieces of 3/4"x3"x about 14"steel(depends on how far back on the frame you want to go) and have a 1" hole punched in one end. Most places that sell steel have an iron worker that can do this. 1 piece 2x4 channel cut to desired length, mitered ends with 2 slots cut in to slid the 3/4"x3" threw. Drill holes and bolt it to the side of the frame then weld it together. My winch mount is separate from the bumper.

A piece of 2”x4” rectangular tubing works perfectly. 3/16” thick wall is ideal. I welded mine directly to the frame horns but you might not want yours to be as permanent. I did the whole thing in maybe two hours. I’ll try and take some pictures today.

 

Thats basically what I did, but I cut holes and jammed a couple pieces of 3/4" x 3" flat bar all the way through the 2x4 tubing, to make D-Ring mounts, and then brought them back down the frame, so it bolts on.
