Just had to share my pleasure from today. It has always driven me nuts how bad my tc lever rattles while driving. I never tried to fix it because when everything was assembled I didn't really know what was loose.

So, since my transfer case is on the workbench, I played with it and saw a bronze bushing was very worn/ half missing. The bushing is inside the shifter arm pivot (or whatever you call it) where it mounts to the tranny adapter (on a T86). One trip to True Value with the old bushing in hand, $2 for a new bushing, and shazaam, my tc shift linkage feels like new with no play. That has got to be the best $2 I have ever spent on the JEEP.

I am actually worried now about what noises I will begin to hear now that I will have a rebuilt tranny, transfer case, new tranny/tc mounts, new throw-out bearing, and no rattle on the TC linkage. All off the above were loud/worn out. Sparky and I also just replaced my motor mounts a few months back, so that won't be a problem to blame either.

Call me optimistic, but I think I might be able to turn on the radio.
